Message I would say 60 seconds with heat shields is fine. Quite a while longer if you are running insulated turbo blankets.

When I lost my heat shield I thought about running turbo blankets, then I thought back to some experiments that I had run regarding heat and insulation, and convection loss. It wasn't worth it to me to chance oil coking in my turbos (search the site and you will see some oil+heat failure issues even with the oil feed lines) to justify. So I hit the classifieds and picked up some stock shields for nothing.

Anyone nearby with blankets want to run their car on the FLIR?
